It’s nearly the end of 2012 here in North America and everywhere the Gregorian/ Western calendar is used. That means many people will be making New Year’s Resolutions for 2013. I’ve never been very successful with following through with my resolutions , thus I’ve decided on a few goals instead. Lots of people make ambitious, hard to attain goals like loosing a lot of weight, eating healthy all the time, exercising regularly at the gym, etc. But few keep their resolutions up past February and end up going back to their former patterns of behaviour. All that being said, I’m making an effort to implement realistic goals that I’m capable of achieving. No major overhauls or anything, just reasonable, attainable activities I know I can do. Sounds boring, you say? Well my goals may be boring but I’m likely to keep them up longer than any ‘flashy’ resolutions!
First on my 2013 “to do” list is follow Christine Kane’s idea of having your own word you form an intention around and focus on it the way you would a goal. The word will be different for everyone depending on what you need. My word is “action” because I normally have a very passive approach to living. This is going to be a challenge for me! Also, I’m not quite sure I understand the model “be-do-have” when applied to “action”. How do I “be” ‘action’? Why couldn’t my word have been “compassion”? or “self-love”? Those I could “be”! Action just confuses me at the “be” level 😦
Secondly, figure out what the heck I’ve gotten myself into with this whole ‘word of the year‘ thing!
What are your plans or ideas for the new year? Do you know how to help me with figuring out action at the level of being rather than doing? I appreciate any help you can offer!
