False Alarm: Company Is NOT Coming

Alright, in my previous post I bemoaned my dad having a card game in our messy house. I complained about the embarrassment of having someone visit and see your untidy home. Well my anxiety was unnecessary for today as the company we were to have had to cancel. She phoned to let us know a family member injured themselves and she had to take them to the ER. So all my b*tching and complaining culminated in me feeling guilty like I’d somehow caused the accident that prevented our guest from coming. I wonder if this is going to be bad karma for me somehow? Hopefully her family member isn’t too badly injured 😦

  1. The phrase, “Shit happens” comes to mind. It wasn’t you!

  2. why is not wanting someone to visit bad?

  3. You did nothing wrong but express you apprehension over the situation, now if you put tacks in the road that would be bad karma. I to hope they are well, maybe it’s an opportunity to tidy up, a gift instead of a karmic debt. πŸ˜‰

    • Thanks Benjamin! You know, I did tidy up too πŸ˜€ It was a great motivator for getting me to actually do some housekeeping. Found out the person is okay so nothing too serious.

  4. Oh man, you need to ease up on yourself, Miss Miss. Seriously. Your feelings were quite understandable, and you didn’t cause anything to happen to them. But I hope you have some little place you can carve out of the messiness to retreat to. I would certainly have to insist on that if I were you, being quite the neatnik myself.

My boyfriend and I kind of divide our apartment in half, actually, because he can be very messy, and I require peace and tidiness. Non negotiable. I keep his half pretty well picked up too, but it’s not the sanctuary o’ Zen that mine is.

So I hope you can find at least some small area to make into a clutter-free zone for yourself – it might help, especially when company comes over. Then it would be more clear that the problem is his, not yours! πŸ™‚

    • LOL, thank you Jenny! I took the opportunity to pick up and clean a bit yesterday and this morning. Place looks much tidier than before and cleaner. My own room is usually tidy but needs to be straightened up more, as I can let it go. I’ve learned to live with some clutter but am happiest when things are put away and clean. It’s depressing sometimes when I can’t even wipe the counters b/c my dad has clutter all over them. Anyway, they’re better today. Tidiness and cleanliness make me feel happier yet I am often unable to do as much as I’d like (for stated reasons). I’ll do my best though to maintain some semblance of “clean” πŸ˜‰

  5. Hey all good! Not your fault! Tis life and hey! We all bitch from time to time! Hugs from Oz ….. Paula xx
