Hoping For A Better Day

It’s been very hot and humid for the past 4-5 days in a row and I am happy today is supposed to be somewhat cooler.

So far it is and I am grateful! My computer is running better too so I am grateful for that as well. It’s frustrating having your laptop wonky for 4-5 days in a row from unrelenting heat and humidity 😦 I don’t have an air conditioner so my poor computer has to ‘grin and bear it’. Yeah, I know I talk about my computer like it’s sentient or something but it’s just because I am fond of it. I’m not totally delusional! LOL I may buy an external hard drive to take some of the pressure of my laptop then it won’t have to work as hard in the heat/humidity and might run better. The laptop cooling fans don’t work all that well in my opinion. Well the last one I had didn’t anyhow and it was a fairly standard one. Now I just use a regular fan and direct it on my laptop when it’s hot. It might sound like I should get a new one but mine is still working well on the whole. It’s not quite 5 years old and in my books that is not old enough to replace it. Maybe if I had more money I’d consider it but why throw out something that still works well just because it’s a little old?

I’ll try to catch up on reading blogs today as I had been using my computer less out of frustration due to its poor performance in the heat and humidity.

  1. Lots of options at

I remember a friend of mine posting on FB about how much he liked his. I’ll ask him about it

    • Thanks Summer! You are so helpful!! I had no clue there were cooling pads until today. You even sent me the .ca Amazon because you’re in Canada too 😀 I’ll check the Best Buy link too. Amazon had lots of them.

    • I think I saw these in the store but I was calling them laptop fans so maybe I just got confused. Some of the ones on Amazon look better than those I saw at Staples so perhaps I’ll order one and try it. Thanks for letting me know about Amazon and Best Buy though. Sometimes I get stuck thinking there’s only Staples around! LOL It’s the closest to where I live but Best Buy isn’t that far from me either. I tend to buy from the store because I don’t have a credit card. But I might buy a Visa gift card and try that.

      • Yeah, I don’t have a credit card either. I do have a Paypal account and some companies take that. Sadly, Amazon doesn’t. I haven’t been able to send my son his birthday gift because of that.

I didn’t know about the Visa gift card. Where do you get one of those?

    • The Visa or Mastercard gift cards can be bought at Shopper’s Drug Mart and major grocery stores, as well as some other pharmacies and places where they sell lots of gift cards together from a variety of services and shops. There’s a 2 or 3 dollar activation fee but otherwise you can use it like a regular credit card. They come in different denominations from $50 to $500 or maybe more. Mastercard also makes them so some places have them but not the Visa cards.
